This blog is for those of you who are curious yet somewhat suspicious about anything too "spiritual." It is for the "we" who might be tempted to dismiss a spiritual practice like Shamanism as too esoteric, not safe, not practical. Yoga is safe. Pilates will pass, but Shamanism? Dream Work? They're too out there.
Well, here we are now in such surreal times of uncertainty that everywhere we look, an endless emergency is playing out. It can feel like touching a hot potato to pick up a social media post.
What do we do with all of this chaos? There are choices.
We can deny this time, wonder if we should wear masks or not, thumb our noses at personal or collective responsibility. We can resign ourselves to isolation and despair.
We can even think that escaping to the moon is our only chance for survival. Is it solely Covid that tears at us?
Wishful thinking. It's climate change, racial unrest, economic distress, political argument. The list goes on...
But there is another choice: We can become curious. Although there is so much that is beyond our control, We can be willing to entertain the idea that we are, in fact, not alone. There could be something outside of ourselves that could inform and support us through this time. Let us consider this possibility together.
I will be interviewing my friend, shamanic practitioner, and dream work facilitator Susan J. McClellan about the many aspects of Shamanism and Dream Work that I have questions about in our blog. Perhaps you have questions too. If so, let me know. Let this be our journey together.
